In a significant boost to the educational sector, the Ministry of Education (MOE) through the Margibi County School System (MCSS), has distributed assorted educational materials valued at over US$55,000 to more than 100 public and private schools across Margibi County.
In an interview with this writer at his office in Kakata on Monday, Margibi County Education Officer, Robert M. Zaza disclosed that the total value of the materials amounts to over seven million Liberian dollars (L$7,000,000.00) and US$20,000.00.
The distributed items according to Mr. Zaza, include essential educational supplies such as reams of sheets, pens, chalk, stapler machines, and poster sheets among others.
Highlighting the impact of the initiative, Zaza pointed out that the distribution of huge educational materials amongst schools in the county for the first time in several years shows that the objective of the MCSS is on course.
He narrated that several public high schools, including EJ Yancy Public School, KRTTI Demonstration School, and the Lango Lippaye High School received substantial quantities of reams of sheets, with over 15, 20, and 50 cartons respectively.
Zaza added that the MCSS recognized the importance of supporting not only public institutions but also some private schools, as they play a crucial role in achieving the government’s educational objectives.
He emphasized that the gesture serves both to acknowledge the contributions of private schools and to encourage their continued support. Zaza expressed optimism that the availability of these instructional materials would greatly enhance the educational capacity and operational efficiency of the benefiting schools.
“We feel achieved; this is what we have come to achieve to ensure that the educational sector is improved in so many ways,” he noted. Zaza reiterated the commitment of the MCSS to continue supplying schools with the necessary materials to foster a conducive learning environment.
However, he also took the opportunity to caution school administrators about the importance of managing the materials responsibly. “I urge you to make maximum use of these materials for the benefit of the students,” he advised.
The Margibi CEO further called on school administrators to ensure the safety of the items from potential theft, expressing a desire to avoid any incidents of criminal activity involving the donated supplies.
In conclusion, Zaza extended gratitude to the Ministry of Education and the Government of Liberia for their ongoing support in enhancing educational resources through the Margibi County School System.
