“Educate Your Children” -Grand Mufti Admonishes Muslims

The grand Mufti of the Supreme Council of Fatwa in Liberia, Shelkh Abubacar Sumaworo has urged parents to educate their children.
He disclosed that the children are the future of any nation therefore, the females and males must be given equal opportunity to acquire the relevant education.
Delivering the Eid al-Fitr Day (Abraham Day) message at the Gurley Mosque yesterday in center Monrovia, Shelkh Sumaworo admonished Moslems in the country to train their children and that the children should also respect their parents despite their economic conditions.
According to him, the children should be disciplined not to let them mingle with group of people who engage with negative ideologies that have the propensity to retard their progress.
“When your children are educated, they will be empowered; as the result, they will not consider engaging in dangerous activities like migrating to other countries for greener pasture,” he added.
He further indicated that when parents obey Allah, the children will also do the same like Abraham who obeyed Allah’s instruction to have sacrifice his only son while the son in turn submitted himself to the process as his father approached him but Allah provided the lamb for the sacrifice.
The Islamic Leader encouraged Moslems to perform the sacrifice saying those who have been blessed by Allah are under obligation to do so but on the contrary, “Allah will be angry with them pointing out that there is no need for such people to even go to the mosque. You can kill goat, sheep including cow and divide it among the family, community as well as poor people and friends.”
He then thanked Moslems in Liberia for their commitment to the Moslem Faith and called on them to remain peaceful and respect the instructions of the Prophet Mohamed.
Mr. Sumaworo however appealed to President Joseph Boakai to reinstate subside programs to the Islamic institutions in the country in order to enhance their operation as they also provide education for other religious groups.
