ECOWAS Private Sector Directorate Convenes Consultative Meeting With Federation Of West African Chambers Of Commerce And Industry

The ECOWAS Directorate of Private Sector, led by Honourable Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture, Mrs. Massandjé TOURE-LITSE, hosted a consultative meeting with the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and Industry. This gathering aimed to
facilitate the alignment of the Regional Business Association’s integration work with the ECOWAS Commission’s 4×4 Strategic objective for economic integration.
Dr. Tony Luka ELUMELU, Director of Private Sector, emphasized the necessity of this collaboration, stating that it will “enrich both sides, enhance better collaboration, and provide perspectives that can impact our contributions to regional development.” He highlighted the importance of harmonizing regulatory frameworks and facilitating cross-cutting programs to unlock opportunities for infrastructure development, job creation, and regional
competitiveness.
The Director of Private Sector concluded that by aligning initiatives with the Federation’s agenda, ECOWAS can improve regional initiatives, enhance private sector competitiveness, attract foreign direct investment, and promote intra-African trade and investment.
The Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and Industry represented by Mr Aminou Akadiri has pledge to continue to play a vital role in promoting private sector interests, sensitizing MSMEs, women, and youth-led initiatives, and fostering collaboration between member states. ECOWAS continues to drive regional integration, supporting Regional Business Associations as key drivers of the economic integration agenda
