ECOWAS Group At UN Bids Farewell To 2 Permanent Reps

The ECOWAS Observer Mission organized a send-off ceremony in appreciation of the Permanent Representative of Senegal to the UN Ambassador Cheikh Niang and the Permanent Representative of Guinea to the UN, Ambassador Paul Zoumanigui, for their meritorious service at the United Nations, which furthered the interests of their respective nations and the ECOWAS Region.
Until his departure, Ambassador Niang was the UN’s Dean of the ECOWAS Group.
The ceremony had in attendance the Permanent Representatives of ECOWAS Member States to the UN, the Permanent Observer of the African Union to the United Nations, Ambassador Fatima Mohammed, and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Leonardo Santos Simão, who was in New York for the briefing to the Security Council on the development in the region and the activities of UNOWAS.
