“It can be recalled that world’s leaders met in September 2019 in New York, USA, at the United Nations General Assembly, calling on world leaders to urgently fight climate change, addressing the threat posed by climate change.
“Accordingly, President George Manneh Weah, led a high power government delegation in September 2019, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.
“We at the ECOWAS Civil Society Movement of Liberia (ECSOMOLJ highly congratulate the President and Delegation to the world Body and thank them for a job-well done.
“As the result of this urgent call, other nations have already started the awareness and support on climate change; among them are: Nigeria, Serra Leone, Guinea and Ghana, to name a few.
“For this global call, the Government of Germany through its Chancellor proposed 16 Billion Euros for Global-Climate change support.
“Additionally, the European Union has a development package for climate change and migration in the tone of 4.1 billion Euros for Africa.
“Moreover, Liberia has great opportunity to tap into these global continental funds; this will give rise to domesticating the Liberian Economy, our national resources for possible revenue collection in terms of budgetary support, and much more.
“The proposed climate change match will begin with a peaceful match and will be climaxed with a dialogue on the Liberian economy, among other discussions.
“Given the necessity of the United Nations call, the ECOWAS Civil Society Movement of Liberia (ECSOMOL) has taken the challenge to spearhead the race to fight global-climate change and is calling on the European Union, UNDP, USAID, United States Embassy in Liberia, the Swedish Embassy in Liberia, ECOWAS, AU and all International organization and NGOs for support in kind or the required funding to arrest the danger posed.
“We further call on the Government of the Republic of Liberia through the ministries of
Public Works, Finance and Development Planning, Information, Agriculture, Post and
Telecommunications, Lands, Mines and Energy, Foreign Affairs, Education and Internal
Affairs; FDA to support the call for global climate change.
“In related development, we want to use this opportunity to further congratulate the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) who have already started significant awareness and fight in this drive; we are with you as campaigners for climate change in Liberia.
“Climate change is real-take precautionary measures to prevent climate change. The
campaigners for climate change in Liberia are spearheading by the ECOWAS Civil Society
