An Executive of the Dugbe River Union in Sinoe County, Aaron Manneh is warning the Ministry of Health & Social Welfare (MoH)’s authorities to be meticulous relative to the procedures that have to do with the quarantining of people.
He said if the country must succeed in the fight against the Coronavirus which is a global pandemic then health authorities must make sure that everyone strictly adheres to the health protocols by instituting holistic quarantine of people.
Mr. Manneh narrated his experiences to reporters at the offices of this paper over the weekend that there were many people who arrived in the country on the 16th of March, 2020 on Royal Air Morac at which time the health workers quarantined some people and allowed others to go home.
He however stressed that government should be more critical in making sure that protocols put in place for public safety should be void of discrimination saying that they were quarantined for 14 days at the Executive Inn Hotel on the Roberts Field Highway as a sign of abiding by the law.
“My temperature remained constant at 36 degree throughout the time we were quarantined until we were released on March 30, 2020,” he indicated.
The stalwart of the Movement of Justice in Africa (MOJA) maintained that unfair selection of people to be quarantined has the propensity of plunging the country into what he described as major health calamity because people who are given the green light to go home could likely be the carriers of the COVID 19 Virus.
“Some people came to bury their mother in Grand Bassa County but they were denied to go while another group who purportedly claimed to have come for a wedding ceremony was allowed to go after their contact in government made a phone call there,” he explained.
Additionally, he stated that they were like being hijacked and smuggled away for quarantine because they completed their entire airport modalities and as they were about to leave then health workers told them that they were going to be quarantined without the knowledge of their family members.
So he then urged them to put in place a system that will allow information to be available to people relative to their quarantine either on leaflets or by means of using megaphone so that they should have prior knowledge as to what is about to transpire.
