Czech-based versatile Liberian midfielder, Murphy Oscar Dorley, this midweek, won the admiration of football fans home and abroad with a magical goal dedicated to his mother at a time when mothers are being celebrated in the month of May.
Dorley scored a long-range strike from almost the center of the pitch in Slavia Plague’s 3-0 win over Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday in the Czech Republic Top Flight.
The guests, in search for a goal to secure victory, turned the corner kick only to Oscar at a point of the match where he leaned into the ball with an elusive shuffle to raise the wings of the stadium with a beautiful netting from a great distance.
His name was screamed through the night from different sides of the stadium, making him one of the outstanding African players participating in the Czech League for more than one football season.
According to record and analysis, the strike by Dorley is his best goal since his move to Europe several seasons ago.
The win moved them to 79 points and 4 points below table leaders, Sparta Prague, who are on 83 points from 33 matches, while his Liberian brother, Sampson Dweh, and his Viktoria Plzen, are third with 68 points.
With a huge smile, this is what he said to the post-match interaction, “Honestly, I was not expecting that at all, but I often try similar shots in training. I want to dedicate this goal to my mom, because she is my biggest fan. Mom, this goal is for you.”
The promising Liberian international is now one of the fans’ favorites among Sparta Plague players due to his consistency. He has played both at right back and as a midfielder for his club in many matches. The Sparta Prague hitman has always been at his best every time he is called up for national and international duties.
