Discoveries Sports Academy Gets 1st Victory

From the start of the Liberia Football Association National First Division League new season for 2024/2025, Discoveries Sports Academy, has emerged as the first newly promoted team to taste victory in the topflight competition.
In a pool of three debutants that got promoted to the first league at the end of the 2023/2024 season from the Second division, DSA presented their opening match with a staller performance and won against their last season sister league champions Blackman Warriors 3-2 at the D. Tweh Sports Pitch in New Kru Town.
DSA, Shaita and Blackman Warriors Football Clubs are all having their first ever participation in the league after toping the lower competition last season in the best three position above the log. Their welcoming day was an unfortunate one for both the Warriors and Shaita because they tasted defeat and are still expecting to get to winning ways in the nearest future.
Jonathan Morris and Saah Moses from DSA had impressive introduction to the nation’s topflight as the youngsters got their names recorded in the competition’s database as scorers of matchday one. Captain Freeman showed the way for the new boys with a brace and Saah Moses came through with an additional finishing to collect all three points.
The Liberia men’s U-20 team Captain brace placed his name among a total of five players that are currently topping the list of scorers in the new first division league.
Those that scored a brace in the matchday one includes, Jonathan Freeman of DSA, Prince Gbeh of Freeport, Josiah Cea FC Fassell, Nick Andrews and Korvah Kollie of Heaven eleven.
The two players that scored for DSA in matchday one appeared fresh as they both just got back to club football from an international window where they represented Liberian at the West African Football Union zonal qualifiers for the Under 20 African Cup of nations.
For the Shaita FC, the opening day got them conditional scenario when they got defeated 0- 2 by Freeport Football Club back there in Kakata City, Margibi County, at the open-air Nancy Doe Sport Stadium.
At the conclusion of round one, the teams are expected to hit the back stage and further prepare for the upcoming round that will be staged this Sunday in the different playing pitches across the country.
The defeated newcomers will now be charged to continue their search for a win in the biggest competition which will determine their stance in competitive football.
