Deputy Minister Empowers Local Clinic

In an effort to improve the struggling health system in the country, the Deputy Minister for Manpower, Planning and Human Resource Development at the Ministry of Labor, Atty. Phil Tarpeh Dixon over the weekend donated several medical equipment to the Jamaica Road Community Clinic on Jamaica Road.

The equipment includes; One electric auto clave, two water filtration system, three diveral trays, four zinc plaster posters, four dressing pans, one infant scale and eleven bed pan among others, as said equipment cost is in the tune of USD $2,000.

Presenting the equipment to the clinic, Atty. Dixon indicated that what was done over the weekend was his own way of giving back to the clinic, noting that it was because of the medication received during his childhood days that made him healthy to be where he is today.

He added that it was incumbent upon him to give the clinic a facelift in order for them to continue their service to the community, adding whenever a nation citizenry are healthy, that nation is certain for prosperity.

Atty. Dixon then lauded the owners and workers of the clinic for keeping it alive amidst their challenges and promised to change the roof as well as providing electricity to enable them run 24 hour services for the community.

The Deputy Minister then used the occasion to urge his colleagues to emulate him, stressing that collectively, they all can make or bring the change the citizenry is yearning for and the betterment of the country.

Receiving the donation, the owner of the clinic, James K. Smith lauded Atty. Dixon and his family for the gesture and said it takes a man with Godly heart to do what was done by him.

He then promised to use the equipment for its intended purpose and called on other well-meaning Liberians to emulate the Deputy Minister, adding that one does not have to be a Minister, President, Representative or Senator before identifying with anyone that is in need.

Earlier, the community youth chairman, Geepoteh Ark Sawyer and the mother of Atty. Dixon, Irene D. Dixon expressed their gratitude to Atty. Dixon for remembering the clinic he once received treatment from when he was a kid and said the equipment will help enhance the work of the clinic for the betterment of the community.
