Dempster Joins Global Gathering Of Frontline Human Rights Defenders

Human Rights Ambassador Adama Kiatamba Dempster has hailed human rights defenders worldwide for their resilience, commitment, and the sacrifices they make in the pursuit of justice and human dignity.
Speaking when he actively participated in the Dublin Platform on October 23- 25, 2024, Ambassador Dempster stressed that the global gathering was a powerful reminder of their shared responsibility to protect human rights and honor those on the frontlines.
Dempster, one of the leading advocates for the establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia, has always been in the vanguard of championing the cause for the protection of rights of the people including access to justice and equality for all.
His participation in the global Human Rights gathering has further reinforced his advocacy campaign in Liberia for the protection of the rights of all despite diverse backgrounds.
At the same time, while highlighting the importance of the gathering, key stakeholders and actors within the sector globally emphasized the significance of collective action in safeguarding the rights and voices of human rights defenders globally.
The ‘Global Gathering’ was among other things, in solidarity for Frontline Human Rights Defenders to celebrate and stand in solidarity for the critical works done in the field of human rights worldwide.
the global gathering of solidarity serves as a critical platform for reinforcing partnerships, advocating for policies that support defenders, and reaffirming the collective resolve to create a world where human rights are universally respected and protected.
The event also convened advocates and leading figures in human rights to address pressing issues, foster global solidarity, justice, protection for defenders and fortify collaborative efforts in building networks and partnerships essential to defending human rights worldwide.
Meanwhile, the gathering further featured prominent speakers, including Volker Türk, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights; Mary Lawlor, UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders; Michael O’Flaherty, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe; Olof Shoog, European Union Representative on Human Rights, Alan Glasgow, Executive Director Frontline Defenders, African Human Rights Actors and Seán Fleming, Ireland’s Minister of State in the Department of Foreign Affairs.
