The Minister of National Defense, Maj. /Gen. Daniel Dee Ziankahn, Jr., (Rtd.) has praised the Government and people of India for their numerous contributions towards the developmental agenda of Liberia, especially the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL).
The Liberian Defense Minister said India’s contributions to the AFL have helped the force become a “force for good”.
The Liberian Defense Minister spoke yesterday at the 14 Military Hospital during the unveiling and naming ceremony of the Shanti Block which was financed by the Government and people of India.
The Shanti Block is an emergency annex to the 14 Military Hospital with a modern surgical theater, which contains a thirty-bed capacity with associated offices.
For his part, the Indian Ambassador accredited to Liberia with residency in Ghana, His Excellency, Sailas Thangal, expressed joy to be a part of the unveiling and naming ceremony of the Shanti Block at the 14 Military Hospital.
He noted that the unveiling and naming of the Shanti Block played a significant role in the collaboration and cooperation between India and Liberia. According to him, health is very important in the existence of mankind, describing health as wealth.
Ambassador Thangal used the occasion to applaud Shri Upjit Singh Sachdeva, India’s Honorary Consul General to Liberia, for his unmatched humanitarian and developmental contributions to the people of Liberia.
He also thanked those who have contributed immensely to the successful construction of the 14 Military Hospital adding, that though the hospital is yet to be dedicated, it has contributed significantly to the health needs of the general public by opening its doors in catering to Covid-19 patients.
