By B. Linus Flomo
Vice president Jeremiah Kpan Koung has urged members of the 55th Legislature to emulate the developmental path of Nimba Electoral District 7 Representative, Musa Hassan Bility.
Prior to his election as Representative, Bility has been actively engaged in impactful developmental projects, including the construction of bridges connecting communities in his district in Nimba County.
Speaking Monday, at the dedicatory ceremony of the Yar River Bridge in Gbeiyee Taingbain in Nimba Electoral District 7, VP Koung encouraged lawmakers across the country to take what Representative Bility has done as a challenge in developing their districts.
The bridge was singlehandedly funded by Representative Musa Hassan Bility through his development foundation, Bility Development Foundation.
The cost of the bridge construction project is put at a little over US$1.1 million.
The construction of the bridge commenced in March 2023 and was officially dedicated on Monday, May 20, 2024.
VP Koung then used the occasion to pledge his fullest commitment to supporting diverse community projects and fostering unity among Liberians and different religious groups in the country.
Several government officials and prominent Nimbaians, including Senator Prince Yormie Johnson, House Speaker, Jonathan Fonati Koffa, and former Managing Director of the Forestry Development Authority (FDA), Harrison S. Karnwea, were in attendance.
The residents who are the beneficiaries of the bridge project described the initiative as a lifesaver and a great relief to them who travel in both Nimba Electoral Districts 7 and 8.
