The Civil Society Network of Liberia (CSNL) has set its attention to the growing waves of rape cases in the country in recent time and calls for men to zip their trousers.
The network described the act of rape as a national disgrace and had thereby threatened unspecified actions against sexual and gender-based violence which is continuously posing a disadvantage to the safety and well-being of women and girls in Liberia.
Speaking at a news conference in Monrovia on Wednesday, the president of the Civil Society Network Sensee Kiadii called on the relevant authorities to set up more measures to find and put an end to the increase in rape cases.
“We will by next month begin series of actions under the law to put government’s feet to the fire in curbing these evil acts and will reveal planned activities toward the end of rape,” Kiadii intimated.
According to him, it’s the responsibility of the civil society to alarm issues of damage against humanity and will keep pushing serious concerns that rape becomes illuminated in the soonest possible time.
“Let our men’s zip their trousers against this disgraceful and evil act that has become a national concern,” he added
The Civil Society Network also outlined infrastructures, capacity buildings and salaries advancement as major achievements of the Chief Justice of Liberia, Francis S. Korkpor.
Sensee Kiadii praised Justice Korkpor for what he noted as the opening of Magisterial Courts and Judicial complexes outside Monrovia as a means of taking the rule of law to all parts of Liberia.
According to Kiadii, the Chief Justice as head of the Judiciary Branch of government had also boosted the capacity of Judges, Magistrates, and other court workers through hosting trainings, workshops and other academic programs.
He stated further that as Justice Francis Korkpor is set for retirement because of the age requirement by September, the justice system is under watch to maintain the protection of all Liberians.
