CPP Lights Up Buchanan Tomorrow …As Charlyne Prides Her Native Land

Grand Bassa County is expected to be colorful with an expected 50,000 and more partisans, supporters, sympathizers and well-wishers as Alexander Cummings announces Charlyn Brumskine as running mate.
The official endorsement by the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) standard bearer will take place tomorrow, Saturday, May 27 as all is being set for citizens from the various Districts in Grand Bassa County and around the country to witness the event.
Since the last two weeks, a massive campaign rallying was launched for citizens under the banner, “One of US for All” in support and solidarity for the CPP preferred choice of Vice Standard Bearer, a prominent resident of Grand Bassa County.
CPP Standard Bearer Alexander Cummings upon his official endorsement at the May 18, CPP National Convention in Gompa, Nimba County, promised to name his preferred choice of running mate in the October general elections in their county of origin.
There are all indications that the special CPP Committee charged with responsibility to vet for the most suitable Vice Standard Bearer amongst several eligible and competent high-profiled Liberians have reportedly settled on Cllr. Brumskine, the daughter of the founding father of the Liberty Party, Charles Walker Brumskine.
Thousands of CPP partisans, supporters, sympathizers and well-wishers from the 15 counties of Liberia, are already in Buchanan for the ceremony, promising to be the largest political gathering in Liberian history.
Mr. Cummings will lead a high-power delegation of CPP stalwarts along with hundreds of Montserrado County partisans, in a 150-vehicle convoy to Buchanan for the program.
The program will be preceded by a grand parade by thousands of citizens throughout the principal streets of Buchanan, and followed by massive celebrations including cultural and traditional performances and musical extravaganza by popular Liberian artists.
CPP National Chairperson Musa Bility has offered to fuel the over 150 vehicles moving into Buchanan for the pronouncement and subsequent endorsement of the CPP’s Vice Standard Bearer.
Liberians from the diaspora have since this week began arriving for the naming ceremony, described by an elder as a “Pride for the Bassa People to unite and support one of us, to ascend to the second highest position in government.”
The CPP, comprising the Alternative National Congress (ANC) and the Liberty Party.

A group under the auspices of Buchanan City United to Elect Charlyne, a conglomeration of patriotic residents of District 3 on Sunday, December 11, 2022 endorsed the representative bid of Charlyne Brumskine, saying she was the best representative aspirant who has the integrity to attract the dividends of democracy to the district judging from her antecedents in the district over the years.
Charlyne, in acceptance told the gathering that when elected she will bring a new style of leadership that will transform Buchanan to the best city in Liberia and was clear stating that: “This is a new leadership coming up. We are not going to do politics as usual. We say no to bad politics and say yes to good politics for the people.”
She promised the leadership that endorsed her on that fateful day that she was humbly accepting their endorsement. and promised that will not change their life in one day as it will take days because she is not perfect.
“It will be you who will decide that your children and your women who are going to the hospital and are dying. It is you who are going to decide how your children will go to school. It is not for me it is for all of us,” Charlyne told her supporters.
Again, at the end of April, almost 1000 men of Buchanan marched the streets to show solidarity with Charlyne. The all-men march for a female candidate in Bassa was one of history making and the “100 Men March” was organized by some prominent sons of Bassa, who pledged their support based on what they termed as her stance of reconciliation in the county and her vision to bring real economic growth to Buchanan.
Charlyne at the time, before Traditional Elders who were brothers and sons of her late father, received the endorsement statement on his behalf expressing how honored and humbled she was by that display of support and solidarity from those she considered fathers, brothers and sons of Buchanan.
With her latest upcoming portfolio, her critics are wondering whether her words will actually match her action to make Buchanan City the greatest city in Liberia because when her party gets elected with her being the second in command Buchanan will not be her priority anymore and in fact, she might as well become another lazy parked van.
While others are even more concerned about her endorsement as running mate not only to Mr. Cummings but judging her decision as one being ‘unstable’ and ‘double minded’ and that her only quest might be to get to the helm of ‘power’ regardless of where she best fits and how.
