CPAL Chair Extends Blissful Ramadan Wishes to Sports Fraternity

The Chairperson of the Club Presidents Association of Liberia (CPAL), Chris Geeply Weah, has extended warm wishes to the sports fraternity and the entire nation observing the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued on Monday, March 11, 2024, Geeply Weah said Ramadan is a time of blessing, as it is a special month in which God hears prayers and directs the path of his followers during the fasting.
He used the time to welcome the month of Ramadan and congratulate all Muslims in and out of Liberia, most especially in the sports fraternity, to have a wonderful fast encounter, praying for the blessing of the good Lord upon the world.
The message from the Liberian businessman, who recently declared his intention to contest the Liberia Football Association April 2026 elective congress, comes at a time when sports events continue, amidst the observance of the holy month.
He advised athletes observing the holy month to monitor their health and be guided all the time, doing the right thing at the right time. Weah emphasized the importance of discipline and commitment, both in sports and in observing the holy month.
Weah’s message underscores the intersection of faith and sports, highlighting the role of spiritual observances like Ramadan in shaping athletes’ discipline and resilience. His words serve as a reminder of the unity and shared values within the sports community during this holy month.
As Ramadan begins, his message of unity, discipline, and optimism, resonates with athletes and sports enthusiasts across the country, reinforcing the spirit of the holy month in the world of sports.
At the same time, Weah has promised to improve the state of the Liberian league if he is elected as president of the Football Association.
“Just as I have already declared, my main concern will be on the league and the national team. I want to make the league very attractive to Liberians and foreigners so that we can excel in the CAF inter-club competitions and the Africa Cup of Nations,” he added.
He promised to rally more and better sponsorships that will benefit stakeholders, players, fans, and workers of the local football house.
“I will make sure that we invest hugely in that aspect of our game so that players, fans, workers, and other stakeholders, will benefit, like in many African countries and across the globe. The Mustapha Raji administration has failed us so we need to re-strategize for the future,” he added.
No Liberian club has reached the group stage of either the CAF Champions League or Confederation in the past three decades, and the National team’s (Lonestar) last appearance in the AFCON finals was back in 2002, when the tournament was hosted by Mali.
