Court Jails Ivorian Herbalist In Nimba

Police in Nimba County has charged and sent to court ACP Mendin Larmie explained that herbalist Gweyee was arrested for her alleged administration of sassy wood that led to the deaths of several persons in Nimba County.
According to police, some of the victims’ families complained herbalist Gweyee of willingly torturing her victims, which led to their deaths; among them was Ma. Korto; after being accused of being demonic by some residents in Kwendin Town, Nimba County.
ACP Larmie referred the paper to the CSD for details regarding the sassy wood investigation.
When contacted, the CSD Commander Emmanuel Grausie, confirmed that herbalist Gweyee along with seven persons have been charged and sent to court for prosecution.
“Herbalist Contejam Gweyee, aged 58 was charged with multiple offenses ranging from manslaughter, criminal conspiracy and negligent homicide along with seven persons and sent to court for prosecution,” CSD Grausie confirmed.
“Moses Karngbe complained herbalist Gweyee to police during the beginning of September 2024, for an administration of sassy wood by ordeal that led to the death of several persons who were buried in a mass grave,” CSD investigators revealed.
“During Police preliminary investigation, herbalist Gweyee denied all allegations leading to sassy wood by ordeal and mass grave,” CSD investigators team disclosed.
When contacted the city solicitor assigned at the Sanniquellie magisterial court Roland Dolo, confirmed the detention of herbalist Gweyee at the central prison pending court trial.
“Police charged the Ivorian herbalist Gweyee along with seven persons in abstentia with manslaughter, negligent homicide, criminal conspiracy, endangering another person life”, city solicitor Dolo pointed out.
Prosecutor Dolo named George Blehsue, John Gonbel, Habakkuk Gbah, Paul Kawo, Paul Troah, Menson Paye and Joshial Yormie as those charged by the Police in abstentia.
“The case is above the court’s jurisdiction and is hereby transferred to the 8th judiciary circuit court pending court trial,” solicitor Dolo asserted.
Since the beginning of 2024, about 12 persons have been reportedly killed by sassy wood by ordeal allegedly carried out by herbalist Gweyee.
