Corruption Must Not Be Sugar-Coated _Says Traditional Justice Boss

The Executive Director of Alliance for Traditional Justice, Jeremiah S Swen has said that corruption must not be sugar coated but rather rethink the approach.Speaking as the guest speaker over the weekend at the first Fundraising & information Session of the Education Transforms Lives Foundation (ETLF), Swen called on Liberians to conduct comprehensive assessment of the post-war educational system and use such instrument to guide the decision for reform.
“ We cannot announce tuition free in the midst of public outcry on the lack of accountability of LD$ 16 Billion and US$25 Million; this is not National policy for educational reform,” Swen maintained.
According to Swen the pattern of harnessing fear into students and breeding ghost towns on campuses is not helping the nation but purely darkening the recovery path, destroying the nation’s image, creating distrust among donors\ partners, undermining the intended investment portfolio needed to consolidate and expand the economy.
Swen added, “Liberia must have achieved these prior to the outburst of the civil war with the unity of purpose and love for nation, we can definitely rebirth quality education to the kids –the emerging leaders and help to jump-start a new dispensation of nation building”.
He maintained that the worst war to befall Liberia is the declaration of political and violent oppression by uniform state security on uniform students, who only seek quality education to defeat poverty, ignorance, diseases, hunger and underdevelopment.
“The authorized action of vandalizing of schools’ premises, inflicting pain and body bruises on minors from 12-16, carried out on the 27th memorial of the notorious Octopus invasion clearly point to tyrannical rule and lack of nationalistic consciousness by the government to uphold Article 1 and 17 of the Constitution of Liberia and Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ” he revealed.
He argued that the need for education cannot be overly emphasized. This leap from the provision of technical and vocational education for ex-combatants, youth exposed\abusing dangerous substances and illiterate segment of the population the elements of the civil war have created a visual cycle of violence ,drug abuse, sexual exploitation and abuse and the unorthodox pattern of mob justice.
According to the CEO and Founder Clovis Dixon, the Education Transforms Lives Foundation Vision was inspired in 2014 and established in the USA on December 2016; the mission is to eradicate poverty through the power of quality education and ETLF made its first international donation to Sinoe County Community College by Bucks County Community College in February 2018.
