Lofa County boys have easily sailed through the quarterfinals stage with a convincing 4-0 win over Bong County in the 2024/25 National County Sports Meet.
The match played on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in the City of Paynesville saw the Lions from the Wologizi Mountain area goal dominating their Kpatawee counterparts to advance to the semifinals of the country’s biggest sporting festival.
James Tapeh, Emmanuel Flomo and Jaygbah Kanneh came through for Lofa County to save the day with their first win on the national stadium this year. They were cheered by their lovely fans and supporters from the first sound of the whistle to the last sound.
Adam Kongoioh, Matalee Wulepon, Kulah Gonoyoun, Opelanda Kerkulah and the rest of Bong County squad took more than 90 minutes to reflect and regroup after each goal but the waterfall could not stop bleeding in tears because their boys could not find the back of Lofa County’s net a single time.
The infliction of the Bongees started with James Tarpeh, the Messi of Lofa County capitalizing on a slip of the of ball from defenders near the ark of the 18-yard box. He moved in with the first strike on goal and raised the curtain in a little over five minutes from the start of the match.
More than 30 minutes later, the youngest threat in Lofa County attack in person of Emmanuel Flomo doubled his side lead to edge the halftime break with jubilant cheers from the stand.
While the Lofians from different sides of the stadium were celebrating their halfway success, the Bongees were as quiet to have their presence considered as absence from the stadium.
The young informed Striker in Flomo got back to the second half scoring again to show to the people that celebration is what he loves doing best taking the score to 3-0.
And just before the conclusion of the fixture, Jagbeh Kanneh held the defense of Bong County on his back when he got possession of the ball from a long distance till, he got the back of the net with a high-power strike.
Lofa county succeeded in spelling the word “Bong” with the number of goals scored in the match. The Kpatawee Boys’ journey met a sad end while Lofa advanced to the semis of the tournament.
