PRESS STATEMENT
-CDC Delivers Christmas/Reconciliation Message-
(Monrovia-Liberia, 22 December 2019); The National Executive Committee of the Coalition for Democratic Change, CDC extends profound Seasons’ greetings to the Liberian people, especially the millions of patriotic mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters that continue to show momentous support to the government of H.E. George M. Weah as we triumph through these challenging times.
The leadership of the CDC also lifts Holiday greetings to Liberia’s international partners and foreign friends, and our political counterparts in the sub region. We say Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year to all.
As we sail through our common challenges during this festive period, the leadership of the CDC invokes the spirit of oneness among our people, encouraging all Liberians to reach across the divide, irrespective of ethnicity, religion or class. Liberia being our common denominator, it’s time to rise above the hate, bitterness & division that has kept us backward for a long time.
Christmas as it is known, is a period of giving; we hence, encourage all party stalwarts, officials and members of the Coalition for Democratic Change to emulate this great example of the Lord Jesus Christ; reach out to neighbors, make new friends, feed the hungry and care for the sick, for this is what defines us as a unique political institution of the masses.
And as our country confronts many challenges, it is incumbent upon us to work together as a united people to sustain the peace and stability of the land. It must not be forgotten that just a few years ago, war and violence was at our doorsteps, and peace was only possible through the sacrifice of countless lives from good nations and profound international institutions that came to our rescue.
We as a people cannot afford another mistake of the sort, which can be avoided if we de-escalate tension, abort violent rhetoric’s from our domestic debates, and denounce vitriolic utterances.
While our government continues to seek the fulfillment of its mandate to deliver prosperity to the country and change the lives of our people for whom the CDC victory remains committed, let’s remain hopeful, knowing that the man we elected President will not fail the mandate entrusted to his charge; he will deliver, as the economy has already begun showing signs that it is bouncing back strong, sooner than later.
The National Executive Committee of the CDC praises the impressive performance of His Excellency President George M. Weah for his great deliberation on ELBC recently. Said deliberation had great resonance with millions of ordinary people, reassured the business community, and has come to be a rallied cry to national unity.
He inspired hope during the interaction, spoke frankly about the challenges, and nevertheless touched on the pressing issues our detractors on the other side of the divide have been exploiting to stoke violence and foment chaos in the country.
The CDC appreciates said captivating and reassuring balm in the President’s message, which was interlaced with his usual characteristic frankness and warm touch.
In his great address to the nation, we were awakened to the fact that over the (nearly) two years of his presidency, our President’s commitment levels has only increased, remains relentless in his drive to make the difference, and is dedicated to the task for which he The President’s speech has inspired us into collective action for peace and unity as a mass-based political institution committed to supporting H.E. George Manneh Weah’s Pro Poor Development Agenda for our country.
Fellow partisans, a few days ago, our Party issued a statement outlining a few issues we called on the president to address, both as leader of the country and of the Mighty Coalition for Democratic Change. As a Father to us all, and listening leader, he has promised to look into some of the issues raised, while clarifying others to our understanding.
We are grateful to the President for this distinctive mark of excellent leadership, which has galvanized the National Executive Committee to continue to commit its unflinching support and solid defense of his Excellency’s people-centered policies and programs.
Contrary to the deliberate misinterpretations of some detractors in the opposition, the CDC’s recently released statement was never meant to demean, but to serve a reminder to policymakers, mainly the Cabinet that the CDC’s governing manifesto remains a central-focus within the leadership dispensation of CDC governance efforts.
Needless to say, the Mighty Coalition for Democratic Change is one and united political entity, led by one standard-bearer, His Excellency George M. Weah; and his great leadership and touch continues to be felt by all, irrespective of party identity within the Coalition.
Henceforth, the leadership of the CDC expresses delight that salary areas of Civil Servants are being paid while the Ministry of Finance has undertaken ongoing measures to revitalize the economy.
Subsequently, the National Executive Committee calls on all partisans to rally around the founding father of the CDC and President of the Republic of Liberia, H.E. George M. Weah. The CDC would like to emphasize that it will do everything humanly possible to defend and protect the Popular People’s Democracy.
As we express our gratitude to the people of Liberia and all of our party members for their continuous support of the Presidency and government, we are also pleased to officially announce the CDC-RETREAT-2020, which will precede the CDC-FIFTEEN County Tour, expected to commence this week.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all Liberians.
