Chinese Embassy Hails Liberian Students … Pledges More Support In Combating Coronavirus

The Chinese Embassy near Monrovia has lauded the efforts of the Liberian students who studied in China for identifying with them over the coronavirus outbreak in that country.
The Liberian Association of Chinese Trained Scholars (LACTS), a conglomeration of Liberian students who study in China has identified with the government of Liberia in providing preventive materials to needy communities and organizations, and at the same time presented a statement of solidarity to the Government and people of China over the loss of thousands of its citizens at the cause of the Coronavirus.
In its statement of solidarity, LACTS called on all Liberians to join China and the rest of the world in combating the deadly coronavirus. With the confirmed cases climbing up to more than 428.400, and deaths rate at 19,000 or more globally, LACTS expressed its deepest regrets over the pandemic in China, American and other nations on the continents.
LACTS’ president Clifton Garpeh Jr. named the number of assistance China had given to Liberia, including the pavement roads, the reconstruction of damaged infrastructures, grants to the Liberian government and opportunity giving them to study in China.
Clifton further said, China was a major partner during the fight of the deadly Ebola virus that broke out in West Africa, leaving thousands of people dead.
Meanwhile, an official of the Chinese Embassy, LIU Ying who represented his boss (Chinese Ambassador) assured the Liberian people of his country’s support to Liberia as the World goes through this painful pandemic and wave of death and said the Government of China is galvanizing supports to come to the aid of those affected by the virus.
On last Thursday, LACTS presented to the Chinese Embassy in Congo Town, a statement of solidarity to the people and government of the People’s Republic of China for the Cov-19 pandemic and the deaths of thousands of its citizens.
Clifton said China has been one of Liberia’s truest and most reliable partners through a flourishing bilateral relations subsisting between the two countries. “There is generally no sector in Liberia that has not experienced the positive impact of PRC, from education to health; agriculture to the security sector; from economic revitalization, and infrastructure to basic social services and the media. China has always stood with Liberia and showed its enormous unflinching supports to the rebuilding process of Africa’s oldest independent state,” he stated.
“Our thoughts and compassion are with the families and relatives of all those affected by the virus in China and around the world. This difficult situation began in January 2020 at the time when preparations were already underway to celebrate the beginning of the Year,” he averred.
He committed his organization’s support in joining China in the fight against the deadly Coronavirus, “As you continue to combat this deadly virus which continues to spread around the world, we, the officials and members of the Liberian Association of Chinese Trained Scholars (LACTS), stand with you wholeheartedly in these difficult times of your nation’s history. We look forward to continuous and cordial relationship between our two countries in 2020 and beyond,” he intimated.
