The Speaker of the Liberia Children’s Parliament now Children’s Forum, Joel Gray, is calling on the Government of Liberia through the Legislature to allocate more funds in the Ministry of Justice’s budget to be decentralized in every communities, towns and villages across the country.
Speaking at the weekend in Liberia, Director Gray called on government and the public to redouble their efforts to support the wellbeing and make laws in the interest of the Liberian children at National level of Government.
He also emphasized on international communities to support more on children’s issues as children have been victimized in all sectors of Liberia and been given less justice.
According to him, the Government of Liberia through the Chair on Concession and Agreement at the Legislature of the Republic of Liberia in line with the Ministry of Labor to work closely with companies that children should not be employed during school hours or be given work that’s hazardous to their health with a strong punishment; the Justice system of Liberia needs to be reawakened and be transparent in her judgement mostly children-related cases.
“Notwithstanding, we are strongly calling upon the National Taskforce of Liberia through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to ensure that those moving objects given by the Executive be used for the intended purpose. Funds should be given to duties implementers, and safe home for survival as it’s in accordance with the 2011 children’s law of Liberia that gives you the responsibilities to ‘protect victims of SGBV’ be decentralized as your budget has been increased as well,” he maintained.
“Our deepest condolences to the children across the 15 sub political divisions of Liberia mostly victims that our heart is heavy and we promise to keep advocating that your right will be respected by the Government of Liberia,” he concluded.
