CBL, LRA Gives Lawmakers Assurance To Comply With NICOL

By Precious D. Freeman
The Authorities of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) and the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) have assured to work and strengthen the operations of the National Insurance Cooperation of Liberia (NICOL).
The assurance followed the appearance of CBL Executive Director Aloysius Tarlue and the LRA Deputy Commissioner for Technical Services Gabriel Montgomery at the House of Representative Thursday.
Recently, Nimba County Representative Johnson Gwaikolo wrote plenary to invite government institutions to explain why they are not complying with the law establishing NICOL.
Representative Gwaikolo alleged that the insurance industry continues to be dominated by foreigners; something he said undermines the operation of NICOL.
Meanwhile a specialized committee has been set up to review the operations of the National Insurance Cooperation and report in two weeks.
