Catholic Church Mourns Fr. Tikpor

Liberia’s Roman Catholics are   mourning the death of their oldest priest, Reverend Father Monsignor Robert Gbatiae Tikpor.

He died on the morning of Thursday, August 31, at the Saint Joseph Catholic Hospital in Monrovia, following a long period of illness.

Fr. Tikpor’s death was confirmed by the Catholic Bishop Conference of Liberia (CABICOL) yesterday in Monrovia.

He was born September 12, 1926, in Freetown, Sierra Liberia, to Liberian parents who were of the Bassa ethnic group, from formerly Rivercess Territory, now Rivercess County.

On Friday, December 17, 2021, Fr. Tikpor celebrated 60 years of service in the priesthood, where he spent his life before being called to eternal rest by the lord yesterday.
