Cape Mountainians Honored For Contributions To County Sports Department

The Chairman of the Grand Cape Mount County Sports Steering Committee, Mohammed Kughan Darame, has expressed deep appreciation to citizens of the county for their invaluable contributions to the development of the county’s sports department. His remarks come as the county intensifies its preparations for the 2024/2025 National County Sports Meet.

In an exclusive interview with journalists over the weekend, Darame highlighted the collective efforts of Cape Mountainians who have supported the county’s sporting activities. He praised several key figures for their generosity and commitment to improving sports infrastructure, including Senator Simon Taylor, Representative Mohammed Dosii, Managing Director of the National Port Authority, Mohammed Dukuly, County Superintendent Honorable Folley Kiatamba,  Boakai Jaleiba, and Thomas Foday Tucker.

“First of all, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to these meaningful Cape Mountainians and the county authority for the trust and time they have placed in us to steer the affairs of the county sports department,” said Darame. “I also want to express our gratitude to those who have reached out to ensure our preparations are a success.”

Darame also took the opportunity to call on other Cape Mountainians across Liberia to lend their support as the clock ticks down to the National County Sports Meet. “We are calling on many more Cape Mountainians to come forward with their support. Time is running out, and it’s crucial that we stand together to ensure the success of our county sports teams and provide the resources necessary for our athletes to perform at their best.”

The Chairman provided an update on the ongoing renovations at the Momo Taweh Sports Stadium in Robertsport City. As the venue for the county’s opening match against Nimba County, the stadium is undergoing significant upgrades, including additional seating capacity, a new inner fence, and an upgraded outer fence. “The county authority, in collaboration with members of the Steering Committee, is working tirelessly to renovate the stadium and ensure it is ready for the opening game,” Darame confirmed.

As the county continues to prepare for the upcoming sports competition, Darame urged the county’s head coaches to keep their teams focused. “I want to commend our athletes for their dedication and hard work in training. The skills they are acquiring now will be crucial to their success in the upcoming competition, and I encourage them to remain focused and give their best to deliver the results our county expects,” Darame stated. With intense preparations underway and the support of the community, Grand Cape Mount County is determined to make a strong showing in the 2024/2025 National County Sports Meet. The county’s sports department is calling on all citizens to rally behind their athletes and ensure they have the support needed to succeed.
