The Booker Washington Institute Alumni Association (BWIAA) marked its recent homecoming day celebration by unveiling a comprehensive roadmap to guide its operations and development.
This initiative, presented at the American Corner Library in Kakata, Margibi County over the weekend, reflects the association’s commitment to fostering collaboration and strategic planning.
The roadmap addresses several critical areas, including structural reforms, projects and infrastructural development, AA digital transformation and communication, as well as Founder’s Day celebrations preparation among others.
BWIAA president Thomas M. Parker emphasized the inclusive approach taken in crafting the roadmap while developed by the executive committee; the document was shared with members and chapters for feedback to ensure broad representation.
Parker highlighted that this year’s celebration prioritized planning over traditional festivities, aiming to align the association’s goals with those of the Booker Washington Institute (BWI).
With the current leadership’s tenure ending in 2026, Parker underscored the importance of having a clear plan to guide the association through this transitional period.
The roadmap he added, also aims to address longstanding challenges, such as dormant chapters and outdated election cycles within branches.
During working sessions, members adopted the draft roadmap, which will be presented at the national convention for final endorsement.
This collaborative effort signifies BWIAA’s dedication to providing leadership, support, and direction for its chapters while ensuring alignment with BWI’s broader objectives.
