The Ministry of Agriculture has turned over a brand-new power tiller to the Administration of the Bong County Technical College.
Bong County Technical College (BCTC) is a premier institution dedicated to fostering academic excellence and professional development in Liberia.
The college is committed to providing high-quality education and training in various fields, preparing students to thrive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
The president of the Bong County Technical College, Alfredson Tarkerweyah, said the donation will help enhance the smooth operations of the only government-run University Agriculture Department in the county.
The BCTC’s president emphasized that the donation comes as a result of a request from the college’s management to address some of the challenges facing the Agriculture Department of the College.
He further revealed that the college is the only government tertiary institution in Central Liberia that offers a regular four-year baccalaureate degrees in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Agriculture Technology, Nursing, Education, and Information Technology.
He said the college is faced with those challenges due to limited resources, but with the support of the national government, it is expected to overcome them and continue to provide quality education to its many students.
Dr. Tarkerweyah assured the Bongese that the power tiller would be used for its intended purpose, especially on the College’s 100 acres of land for agricultural development.
The president of the BCTC lauded the government for the donation, noting that this will enhance the ongoing works at the college’s agricultural land.
Meanwhile, students of the Agriculture Department expressed gratitude to the government for the timely intervention, something they believe will enhance the learning environment and help them to achieve better academic results at the BCTC.
It can be recalled that the College was established in 2010 to create access to training in technical skills and undergraduate degree programs for inhabitants of Bong County and by extension, students within the central region of the country.
The College’s construction is estimated to be in the tune of US$7,604,926.97, but it’s yet to be fully completed due to administrative, technical and financial challenges.
