Bong County Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris, has categorically stated that the ongoing project at the Superintendent’s Compound is strictly meant for guests and not for any county officials.

At the re-dedication ceremony of the refurbished Superintendent Compound on February 15, 2025, the County Development Officer, Sedekie Kromah, clarified that the ongoing construction of a new three-story administrative complex, valued at US$300, 000, is intended to house the County Administrative Officer, the County Development Officer, and the Finance Officer, along with their families.

The announcement prompted backlash from local citizens.

Speaking to the media on February 21, 2025, Superintendent Norris’ Communication Officer, Christian Kangboe, said that the ongoing project at the Superintendent’s Compound is strictly meant for guests, not for any county official, as claimed by Kromah.

Kangboe said there is no need for panic but asserted that the county leadership, under the guidance of Superintendent Norris, is dedicated to placing Bong first in all things and has not altered the plan of building a Guest House to accommodate high-profile guests visiting the county.

The county’s leadership, in its quest to put Bong first, wants to make it clear that the county has not used any cent of the US$75,000 apportioned during the last county council sitting for road maintenance.

There is still a balance of US$ 9, 000 from the allotted US$75,000 to purchase vehicles for some County officials, including Sam Elliott, Administrator, County Development Officer Kromah, and Silas Tokpa, Financial Officer.

The Bong County Communication Officer emphasized that Madam Norris and her team remain committed to the growth, reconciliation, and development of Bong County; as such, they will continue to work in the interest of Bong County and its residents. Moreover, he extends his appreciation to all those who honored the official opening of the renovated Superintendent’s Compound and the 60th birthday celebration of Superintendent Norris.
