The Joseph Nyuma Boakai Foundation (JNB Foundation) made a generous donation of two state-of-the-art incubators to the Liberian Government Hospital in Buchanan during the weekend. The donation, aimed at improving neonatal care and enhancing health outcomes for infants in the region, marks a pivotal step forward in the foundation’s commitment to strengthening Liberia’s healthcare system.
The presentation ceremony, which took place at the hospital, was attended by officials from both the hospital and the Boakai Foundation.
The gathering included impassioned speeches from key stakeholders, highlighting the critical role such medical equipment will play in the community’s health infrastructure.
Dr. Eric Gbanlon, Medical Director of the Liberian Government Hospital in Buchanan, expressed deep appreciation for the timely donation.
“These incubators will be a game-changer for us,” he said. “They will greatly assist in providing specialized care for newborns, particularly those born prematurely or facing medical complications. With our current resources stretched to their limits, we are truly grateful for the foresight and generosity of the Joseph Nyuma Boakai Foundation.”
The donation comes at a time when the need for advanced medical equipment in Liberia’s healthcare facilities is becoming ever more urgent.
Premature and medically fragile infants often require a controlled environment to thrive, and the incubators will offer such an environment, ensuring that babies can maintain a stable body temperature and avoid infections—two major risks for newborns in a critical condition.
Representing the Joseph Nyuma Boakai Foundation, its Deputy Director Henry Saah Flanpor underscored the foundation’s unwavering commitment to advancing health equity across Liberia.
“Every child deserves a fair chance at life,” Flanpor stated. “By providing these incubators, we aim to support healthcare workers in their vital work and help to improve the lives of newborns and their families.”
The JNB Foundation, which has consistently worked to enhance healthcare and education throughout Liberia, sees this donation as part of a broader effort to improve maternal and child health services across the country.
As the foundation continues to focus on alleviating healthcare disparities, this donation is seen as a crucial step toward ensuring better health outcomes for future generations of Liberians.
The incubators, equipped with medical technology, will not only improve the quality of care for vulnerable infants but also serve as a vital tool in strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in the region.
This act of generosity exemplifies the growing recognition of the need for better maternal and child health services and underscores the importance of community-driven solutions in addressing healthcare challenges in Liberia.
As the ceremony concluded, attendees expressed their hope that this donation would inspire other organizations and individuals to follow suit in supporting the country’s healthcare system.
The JNB Foundation’s continued contributions to Liberia’s health sector remain a beacon of hope for many.
