Boakai, Cummings Possible Ticket Reemerges, But…

What appears to be a reemergence of possible ticket of Unity Party’s Joseph Nyumah Boakai and the Alternative National Congress Alexander Benedict Cummings, has begun again in Monrovia; but conditions set make it complicated to be worked out.
Those conditions to be worked on; are that the former governing party must do a formal and written apology (letter) to ANC and its standard bearer, Alexander Benedict Cummings, and publish same 7 times in 7 local dailies (newspapers) and air same number of times in the electronic media (radio/television) as well.
If these conditions are met, then formal discussions can begin. If not, then so shall it be for the rest of the time. This follows after reports emerged of ongoing negotiations with the ANC by UP for some time now in Monrovia.
Though not yet independently verified, contacts in both camps when spoken to could neither confirm nor deny the reports as there are screwed-lips to the ongoing negotiations for a reemergence possible ticket of ANC and UP.
According to the reports, some top-notch official of the UP have been meeting with the ANC and Cummings for a reunion but those conditions put forward seem to be making things difficult, if not only impossible for the Unity Party which national convention for new leadership begins next Tuesday, 26 July, in Gbarnga, Bong County.
Because of this, the party has advertised all of the positions including the standard bearer status for grab by any potential partisan for which the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Toga McIntosh Gayewea, has expressed his desire to contest.
Furthermore, the ANC and Cummings demand of apology comes in the aftermath of recent court case of alleged forgery in their alliance with the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) framework document brought against Cummings mainly by the All Liberian Party (ALP) of Benoni Wilfred Urey and was strongly supported by the Unity Party during Boakai’s testimony in open court as a witness.
Therefore, any move forward for possible reunion, ANC and Cummings want their characters to be deemed first publicly by UP and ALP before sitting for any discussion.
Another factor is the last month (June) Senatorial by-elections’ defeat of the UP in Lofa County, which does not speak volume for 2023 as there could be signs on the wall of the inability of the party’s standard bearer to marshal any courage for the future.
