President Joseph Boakai has commissioned and administered the “Oath of Confidentiality” to members of the National Security Council of Liberia.
In his address at the Executive Mansion, the President exhorted them to serve the nation and the citizens’ interests with unwavering dedication, patriotism and love, above self-interest at all times.
President Boakai, following the administering of the ‘Oath of Confidentiality’, then chaired the council’s inaugural meeting, at which the security sector officials discussed a range of critical national issues.
Speaking to reporters following the closed-door meeting that lasted several hours, Justice Minister, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, assured the public that the government is committed to finding solutions to the challenges facing the country.
Regarding these challenges, the Country’s Attorney General named the Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County situation and other concession areas, as well as issues affecting citizens at various borders across the country.
Minister Tweh also emphasized that the government would build upon its experiences and be better prepared to tackle any future issues, and extolled President Boakai’s vision for the country’s development.
Justice Minister Tweh, at the same time, further urged Liberians to be patient as the government works to address their concerns and the range of challenges affecting and eating the fabric of the Liberian society.
Meanwhile, the National Security Council comprises several officials, including the Minister of Justice, Minister of Finance, Minister of National Defense, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), Minister of Internal Affairs, and National Security Advisor to the President.
Others are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Inspector General of Liberia National Police, Commissioner of Liberia Immigration Services, Director of National Fire Service, National Security Agency (NSA) Director, and Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Director, among others.
