Bishop Simpson Appeals To Political Aspirants

As Liberians go to the polls for the Presidential and General Election in October of this year, a Liberian educator and prelate is making a passionate plead to all political aspirants to keep the peace and not disrupt it.
The Principal/Administrator of the Haywood Mission Institute, Bishop, Dr. Leo M. Simpson said Liberia has been through turmoil that effected every section of the society including schools and called on politicians not to disrupt the peace for their selfish ego.
“I pray that all political parties, leaders, and followers to remembered what the country has been through and think about the learning process of our children who are the next leaders after our retirements,” Dr. Simpson pleaded.
He said physical violence, verbal abuse and all forms of disorderly conducts should not be tolerated before, during and after the election and that Liberia should remain on the right path of peace and development most of all the education of the young people, who constitute a significant portion of our population.
The Liberian educator is reminding political actors that as much as it is their constitutional right to participate in the process in moving the country forward democratically, it is also the right of the Liberian child of school going age to remain in school for his or her academic and national development.
It can be recalled that the His Excellency President George Manneh Weah reassure the world that the Presidential and Legislative elections will be free, fair, and transparent.
The Liberian leader made statement at the Executive Mansion on Capitol Hill in Monrovia on June 16, 2023 when the Swedish Minister for International Development cooperation and Foreign Trade, Mr. John Forsell paid him a courtesy visit.
He promised that his administration will continue to uphold the tenants of democracy, including regular credible election and freedom of speech’
The bishop said, “With these reassurances made by the Liberia Chief Executive, I am once more calling on all aspirants and political parties to remain in the confined of the law and give hope to students who are preparing themselves for future challenges.”
Bishop Simpson made the assertion in an executive interview at his Sinkor, Old Road Office on Monday June 26, 2023 following a thanksgiving program of the Elementary Division of the Haywood Mission Institute.
At the close of the program, several students were given double promotion, while honor roll students were recognized for their excellent academic achievements during the school year.
“I thanks you, our precious jewels for not allowing your parents resources to go to waste and I also want to thank all parents for always being there for your child or children during these hard economic times. I appreciate you and pray that God will continue to bless you,” the Haywood Mission school master said.
Bishop Simpson informed students and parents that beginning next academic school year the Haywood Mission will reintroduce what he referred as the H.M.I Academic Club of Excellence, noting that only students that will perform well with an average of 85 per cent and above will form part of the club.
He said the Academic Excellent Club is intended to encourage would be students and create academic competition among the students.
“This will be a competition among scholars and also inspire other students to study hard as no one student will be left behind,” bishop Simpson said.
