The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested Nimba County District 7 Representative son, identified as Peach Bility for allegedly being in possession of illicit drugs.
The LDEA charge sheet narrated that Bility was arrested and charged with the alleged crimes of unlicensed possession, sale and distribution of controlled drugs or substances in the country.
Suspect Bility was however arrested with 500 grams of marijuana, 24.1 grams of Kush, single barrel gun, one black pistol and ammunition by the LDEA officers on Miama Beach in Monrovia.
The LDEA said prior to the investigation, suspect Bility was informed of his constitutional rights to a lawyer through a phone call to remain silent after admitting that he was arrested for smoking a narcotic substance publicly on the beach.
The LDEA further disclosed that the marijuana and kush found in his car were not a prescription, something that violates section 14.85 and 14.89 of the new amended drug law of the republic.
According to the LDEA, the arrest was made following a tip-off from a concerned citizen who reported Peach, revealing that Acting on in the information, LDEA officers conducted a raid on the beach and discovered a large quantity of drugs, including marijuana, cocaine and kush among others.
The LDEA at the same time assured the public that they are committed to cracking down on drug trafficking and abuse in Liberia and will continue to work tirelessly to rid the country of this scourge.
They have urged citizens to report any suspicious activity related to drugs and have promised to investigate all tips thoroughly at buttressing government efforts in the fight against drugs in Liberia.
Meanwhile, the arrest of Rep. Bility by the LDEA serves as a reminder that no one is above the law, regardless of their social status or connections, thus sending a strong message to all individuals involved in drug trafficking that they will be held accountable for their actions.
