The political leader of the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) and Representative for District 7 in Nimba County, Musa Hassan Bility, in collaboration with Bong County District 1 Representative Prince K. Koinah, has broken ground for the construction of a modern bridge over the St. John River that will link the two counties in Liberia.
Representative Bility said at the groundbreaking ceremony on March 22, 2025, that the bridge project is intended to resolve the long-standing menace residents face in transporting their locally produced commodities to nearby markets.
He said the bridge, when completed, will link several towns and villages of the two counties, as well as a major route that links District 1, Bong County, and Nimba County District 9.
The Nimba County Representative said the bridge will be named “Tiawon Saye Gongloe Memorial Bridge.”
“We have come to break ground, and to break the chain of the suffering of the people. We will work together for the betterment of our people, and for the betterment of our counties. Our development will have no limit within Liberia,” Rep. Bility asserted.
The Nimba County District 7 lawmaker vowed to carry out more developments that would better the lives of the ordinary people in Nimba County and Liberia at large.
However, Representative Prince K. Koinah, a proxy Darvin Kpalawon, Administrative Assistant lauded his colleague Bility for his farsightedness in helping to alleviate the long-standing challenges of residents of both Districts.
He said over the years, our people living in that part of Liberia and its surrounding towns and villages have not been accessing nearby communities and markets.
Mr. Kpalawon narrated that the project, when completed, will have a lasting impact on residents of the area.
He believes when leaders and citizens of Liberia put aside their differences to emulate the examples of Representative Bility, the country stands a chance to flourish in tangible developments.
Meanwhile, in a statement of appreciation Cllr. Gongloe expressed his gratitude and extended heartfelt thanks to Representative Bility for the extraordinary honor of naming the new bridge connecting Bong and Nimba Counties after him.
Cllr. Gongloe revealed that the groundbreaking of the “Tiawan Saye Gongloe Bridge” is a powerful gesture that goes beyond infrastructure—it reflects unity, vision, and shared progress.
“I want to commend Rep, Bility for his leadership and commitment to development. This bridge stands as a symbol of the future we are building together—a future rooted in justice, service, and hope,”Cllr. Gongloe noted.
This bridge is poised to enhance connectivity, foster community growth, and create new opportunities for residents in the region.
The CMC leader reiterated its commitment to development, emphasizing that “Liberia is on the rise and moving forward.” The organization is focused on collaborative efforts to build a brighter future for the community.
Even though the estimated cost of the project wasn’t provided, it’s estimated that the size of the project is 90 meters, connecting Quoipa in Bong and Lentwen in Nimba County.
