Bestman Memorial Tourney Course For 5th Edition

The 5th Edition of the Pennoh W. Bestman (PWB) Memorial Football Tournament is set to kickoff this Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Willis D. Knuckles Memorial Sports Stadium (Alpha Field) in Zubah Town, Paynesville.
The one-day sporting event is in recognition of Mr. Bestman’s immense contributions to promoting football development among youth in communities.
The memorial tournament will involve four teams, namely Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), United Bank for Africa (UBA), Liberia Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI), and Liberia Black Star FC (inactive/non-division).
Winners of the 2024 PWB football tourney will receive trophy while other teams, including teams participating in exhibition matches, will receive certificates.
There will also be two exhibition matches in kickball: the Liberia Revenue Authority’s kickball team will play girls of Black Star in the first kickball match followed by another exciting kickball match between United Bank for Africa and Liberia Broadcasting System Falconets of Director General Eugene L. Fahngon on the same day.
Mrs. Agnes Bestman, widow, expressed gratitude to the organizers and participating teams for their commitment to the annual memorial tournament while keeping her husband’s legacy alive. She wished all participants a successful tournament.
This year marks the fifth year of the annual memorial tournament held in honor of Pennoh W. Bestman.
Mr. Bestman provided enviable leadership serving as president of Liberia Black Star, winning three Championship titles in one year – LFA National League, LFA Knock-out Championship, and The President’s Cup in 2007.
Mr. Pennoh W. Bestman, former president of Liberia Black Star FC, former Vice president of Liberia Football Association, and former Marshall in the East as well as former Senior Warden of Blazing Star Lodge 17, was a passionate football supporter.
He also served as Deputy Managing Director of the Liberia Airport Authority and former Senior Advisor of Alpha Old-timers Sports Association.
