Discoveries Sports Academy, Mighty Enforcer FC and the Philadelphia Lone Star FC have qualified to participate in the 2023/24 League season in Liberia.
The three teams the just ended National Third Division Playoff as first, second and third winners introducing them to the upper league that relegated three teams’ last season.
Among newly promoted second division teams, Nimba County based Mighty Enforcer exhibited a show of professional soccer performance which led them to the grand finals after swallowing two of Montserrado County’s best third division clubs in their GB soup in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds.
Pepper FC, the once favorite for a second division slot, was eliminated by the Nimba County boys in the quarterfinal which was a historical moment for the GB Boys.
Philadelphia Lone Star collected her last playoff defeat from the Enforcers on Friday June 9, 2023 at the same venue completing her struggle for promotion.
Determined to advance to the grand finals, DSA put out an unbelievable performance to brought the spectators to their feet.
On Sunday June 11, 2023 the ATS was lighted with high quality soccer performance when DSA met face to face with Might Enforcers from Nimba County in what many sport followers called fight to the death.
Both sides scored in the first half to ease the tension by not giving any side a leading edge.
In the 18th minute of the first half, Mighty Enforcers’ captain Mohammed Keita converted a splendid free kick to get the curtain-raiser; a celebration that lasted for only 20 minutes when DSA’s captain Johnathan Freeman got the equalizer.
The entire match maintained an even playing pace for the two side until Andrew Nyantee converted in a penalty in the 90th minute.
Discoveries was then crowned Champions of the Liberia Football Association National Third Division Playoff hosted in Montserrado.
Philadelphia Lone Star got it qualification to the second league in the best loser’s category after sending home Wologizi FC to the mountains on post-match penalty session.
The both clubs fought over the single spot and ended the full-time of play in a one-all draw.
