“Be Leaders Not Followers” -Amb. Brown Cautions Swagger Community Leadership

The National Chairperson of Team Cummings 2023 had encouraged the newly inaugurated leadership of the Swagger Island Community in Montserrado County District 12 to be leaders and not followers for the betterment of their community.
Ambassador Lewis G. Brown said leadership is different from followership, indicating that you cannot be a leader and be a follower at the same time, as such, a leader should be able to choose what he/she needs.
Speaking at the 3rd inaugural ceremony of the Swagger Island Community, the country’s former Information Minister in the government of former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf said only God knows what tomorrow will bring especially during this time citizens are about to make another decision that will either improved their lives or carry them backward.
“Let me remind you that God gave each of us a gift to choose, if you decide to choose a wrong leader today and you will have a difficult time tomorrow but again, the decision to make your community and country better rests upon all of you,” he said.
Mr. Brown told the newly elected community leaders that life is blank check and whatever you write on your check is what you will get in return. “It doesn’t matter where you come from, there are some people that are afraid of writing on their check but if you don’t value yourself ,this country will not value you.”
“When you lead people to regret why they vote you is like leading you into temptation and this newly inaugurated leadership should not follow this pattern of leadership because if they do it will end the wrong way,” he explained.
Meanwhile Brown also called on the country’s prelate to help and pray for Liberia as it approaches the 2023 Presidential and Legislative elections.
He then asked the people of Swagger Island to elect a qualified and competent government during the October 10 polls that will develop and improve the country’s economic challenges for the betterment of the citizenry.
For his part, the newly inducted chairperson of the Swagger Island Community thanked his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him to lead their community especially so that the country is now gearing up for another crucial elections.
He at the same time also cautioned all aspirants both Presidential, Legislative and Senatorial to go about campaigning without violence, adding, “Because we cannot afford to go back to our dark days. Let this election about policy driven and not violence and insult.”
