Barrolle Qualifies To Fourth Finals In Row At LBA

The Rollers of Mighty Barrolle pulled second straight win over LPRC Oilers to set up a grand final with Cestos Mongars in the best of five series of the LBA National First Division Championship.
The delayed match took place at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Basketball Gymnasium on Wednesday. It could have been played on Tuesday but due to the jersey conflict, it was pushed to Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
The one-sided match ended 70-39 points while the first playoffs match on Sunday, August 18 ended 56-42 points.
The best of five series between Cestos Mongars and Mighty Barrolle will determine who be crowned as champion of the 2024 League Season.
The two finalists will also represent Liberia in the next edition of FIBA Club Championship making it the first time in many years for Liberian clubs to participate in said competition.
Cestos Mongars also edged NPA Pythons in two straight matches in the play-offs to seek automatic qualifications to the grand finale.
This final is Barrolle’s straight fourth final in a role while it is Cestos Mongars first final in the club history.
Barrolle won the past three editions of the league but they could not compete in the FIBA Club Championship due to a leadership dispute at the local federation.
Following the settlement of the dispute due to the election of Abraham Samukai as President of the Liberia Basketball Association, FIBA restored every right of the institution and accorded it all benefits based on qualification.
The first testament of FIBA commitments in its dealings were previous technical supports and Liberia’s recent participation in the junior championship for both male and female under 18 in Ivory Coast which is the country first international competition since 2007.
FIBA has also granted Liberia hosting rights for the 2024 women’s club championship qualifiers later this year.
These are cleared justifications that FIBA has great hope in the Abraham Samukai leadership of the LBA.
