Barnersville Accident: One Dead, Several Injured

The fatal motor accident that occurred early Wednesday morning, October 23, 2024 in Barnesville, reportedly left one-person instantly dead with at least11 others suffering critical injuries.
The mid-week was embraced with a sad day for the people of Barnesville along the Kebbah Road where a bus plying the route with many occupants collied with a truck resulting to a major accident which claimed the life of the bus drive and left several others critically injured, eyewitnesses said.
According to eyewitnesses around the concentrated area, a speeding truck reportedly rammed into a commercial bus moving in an opposite direction during the morning hours.
The situation of the accidental clash damaged major features of the bus and broke into the passengers that were on board the bus.
Following the accident, many of the eyewitnesses and passers bye considered the damaged caused by the truck as a negligence of the truck driver and thought of setting it ablaze with the driver.
The attempted arson attack by the angry crowd was timely resisted by the arrival of officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP).
According to reports from the LNP, the life-threatening episode witnessed crowd launching a mob action against the officers.
Police spokesperson, Cecelia Clarke explained to this paper that the angry crowd set a private vehicle belonging to the police commander on the ground ablaze after they were resisted from executing their plans against the truck that was involved in the accident.
Madam Clarke confirmed the death of the bus driver and reported that eleven persons were rushed to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center for treatment from the fatal accident.
She described the action of the rowdy crowd leading to the damage of the police commander’s vehicle as violent in nature and as such perpetrators must account.
According to her, at least 25 persons were arrested immediately after the incident in connections to the violent circumstances.
