Bad roads have engulfed Jorqùelleh Districts 1and 2 and its environs, in Bong County, hampering free movement for pedestrians and Commuters in the Districts; as major roads are in deplorable conditions.
Some of the major roads that are deplorably damaged in Jorqùelleh District include the Kokoyah to Grand Bassa road, as well as the Kpaii to Botota road, among others.
Some of the residents who spoke in an interview with journalists in the districts narrated that they are disenchanted in their Representatives James M. Kolleh and Prince K. Koinah who have abandoned their districts since their ascendancy at the Liberian Parliament.
The citizens accused Reps. Kolleh and Koìnah of been the cause of the backwardness of development in their areas on grounds that they cared less for the improvement of their livelihood.
According to the citizens, they are finding it difficult to transport their produce to the nearby markets or transport them to Gbarnga Central Market for sale owing to the despicable condition of the road.
They further revealed that pregnant women and other ill people are being conveyed in hammock to nearby health posts due to the deplorable condition of the roads, noting that the road has become inaccessible for ambulance.
“Riding now in Electoral Districts 1 and 2 and its surroundings is like risking your life, because the roads are terribly bad, with potholes contributing to this situation. It is difficult and dangerous to ride around the districts. If nothing is done before the closure of the rainy season, the districts will be cut off from the County,” Andrew Kollie a motorcyclist of the area complained.
The aggrieved citizens, have at the same time accused Representatives Kolleh and Koìnah allegedly abandoning their districts.
Meanwhile, when our reporter placed calls to Bong County Districts 1 and 2 lawmakers, the efforts proved fruitless as their phone rang endlessly.
