Sheikh Al Moustapha Kouyateh says Foreign Affairs Minister Dee Maxwell Kemayah is a bad product to the Liberian government that needs to be dismissed to save the regime.
He said there is a propensity for Minister Kemayah to undermine the fight against corruption and other major issues that need to be eradicated from the governance system of the country through his alleged involvement in misuse of office.
Quoting what he termed as credible international sources, Kouyateh reported that under no condition the foreign service sector of Liberia can improve and smoothly work with other countries under the watch of a man like Kemayah.
Speaking at a news gathering yesterday in Monrovia, Mr. Kouyateh alleged that Kemayah, as the face of the country’s foreign policy, uses his office to increase nepotism in the foreign mission by employing and inserting into government’s payroll incompetent family members that are collecting huge salaries and benefits.
“This is termed as exploitation, gross corruption, nepotism and disrespect against the will of Liberians and their resources,” he lamented.
He then called on President George Manneh Weah to save the state and his regime by avoiding international partners or foreign nations’ sanctions that could be a greater embarrassment in the future for the CDC-led government.
“We welcome the actions taken so far by the President against other officials that are sanctioned and hoped that those suspensions go far beyond to serve as caution to others involved. While we wait to see more done, we are calling for the immediate dismissal of Minister Kemayah and subsequent investigations for further prosecution,” Kouyateh stated.
The political actor raised concerns on the delay of the foreign ministry to release the report of an investigation mandated by the president on how a private citizen in Sheik Basheru Kante acquired a diplomatic passport belonging to a Liberian diplomat in America.
He further alleged that since the US government allegedly declared the wife of Minister Kemayah as ‘Persona Non-grata’ thereby causing the Minister consulate to leave the United States, her salary still remains in the pay system at the Foreign Ministry where she takes monthly pay even though she no more works for government and had moved to their home reportedly bought in Morocco through embezzled foreign funds.
“Minister Maxwell Kemayah is of no decency to push Liberia’s foreign policy, not even to represent the country at gathering of diplomats of integrity,” he said.
