The Liberia Football Association (LFA) former Vice president for Operations, Cassell Anthony Kuoh, has officially taken full ownership of Kallon Football Club of Liberia, following the completion of purchase right.
Cassell took full ownership of the First Division outfit formerly called Muscat Football Club, after they agreed to sell the club to him, having expressed interest in returning to Liberian football.
The deal was completed on Saturday, February 24, 2014 at the office of the new owner in Monrovia. Yesterday, Kuoh assumed ownership of the club during a presentation at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex Practice Pitch.
During the signing ceremony, the club president, Charles Massaley, and shareholder, popular Liberian artist, Maurice Tosh Gayflor, known as CralorBoi CIC, signed on behalf of FC Kallon, while Cassell Kuoh signed as new owner of the Club.
Kuoh expressed his excitement of getting back into Liberian Football after he was presented ownership documentations and items of the club that is struggling to survive in the national league.
“I can say to you that after months of speculation about me wanting to buy a club, today we want to inform you officially that it is true. We have taken over at FC Kallon Liberia 100 percent as owner, and I am indeed happy to be back in Football to once more create opportunities for the young people,” he said.
According to him, his takeover of the club is not only intended to be in football, but rather to make an impact by ensuring FC Kallon Liberia maintains its place in the First Division this season.
He furthered, “We will form partnerships with clubs outside of Liberia-in Europe, Asia, and other places, where we will transfer our players.”
Kuoh did not disclose the amount he paid to acquire FC Kallon Liberia, but the fee is believed to be anywhere between US$25,000 to US$30,000, that is, according to a source close to the club from president, Charles Massaley.
Meanwhile, the club’s name will remain FC Kallon Liberia for the remainder of the season, but the Club will be renamed FC Fassell at the end of the 2023-2024 league season.
Muscat FC changed its name last year to FC Kallon Liberia. It was rumored that by then that former Sierra Leonean international, Mohammed Kallon, reached a business agreement with Charles Massaley, alias ‘Manja’ to observe the club for a year before becoming a majority shareholder.
The agreement saw young prospect, Emmanuel Gono, move to Sierra Leone, where he spent time developing his skills with top flight club, FC Kallon, owned by the Sierra Leone legend before traveling to Sweden.
From a business perspective, FC Kallon Liberia needs direct investment to improve the club’s current status, while Kuoh on the other hand has been hunting for a club to regain his status as stakeholder in the football sector.
