Assemblies Of God Launches University

The Assemblies of God (AG) has launched its University which is being prepared to begin operations in September, 2024.
The University, when opened, will operate three Colleges namely; Bible and Theology, Business, Education and Liberal Arts.
Addressing the press on Thursday April 25, at the AG church edifice on Buchanan Street, the president of the University, Jimmy B. Kuoah, said over the period of 115 years, AG has provided quality education with moral discipline to thousands of young people across Liberia.
“The Assemblies of God began in 1908, with the establishment of an all boys’ school in the remote village of Newarken Barrobo, Maryland County; making the church the first to establish any school in the hinterlands of Liberia,” Kuoh recalled.
In 1980, the AG Bible College was established in Brewerville wherer pastors and church leaders have been trained for more than 40 years now; this accredited institution operated as a single college, offering a baccalaureate degree in Bible and Theology, he added.
“The AG University will continue to receive applications for instructional staff from now to August; all applications should be submitted at the First Assemblies of God Church on Buchanan Street,” he announced.
The Co-Chair of Steering Committee and Member of the Board of AGU, Jarlawah A. Tonpo, said, The AGU, a Christian institution, is committed to educate the society at the levels of undergraduate and postgraduate education through rigorous research, planning, and scholarly development.
“The main campus of the AGU shall be located at the National Headquarters in Brewerville, the University shall maintain other campuses across the country as may be deemed necessary from time to time,” Tonpo asserted.
“The AGU’s first college, the Liberia Assemblies of God Bible College (LAGBC), is well-known for its theological services, and there are graduates who feel proud to have graduates from that institution; the Bible College will remain one of the colleges under the current arrangement offering BTH degree,” he pronounced
Meanwhile, The AGU will establish and carry out the dissemination of knowledge in a co-educational Institution of higher learning within the Republic of Liberia and will provide learning in all spheres of academic, professional and religious education which will effectively promote the interest of the growth and improvement of the University.”
