… Police Arrests seven Rioters

The Administration of the AME University says it is appalled by the recent violence that was characterized by Liberia’s 175th Independence Day celebration in Monrovia.
In view of such unprecedented scenario, the university wishes to confirm from video footage circulating on social media and through internal investigation that a number of its students including the president of the Students Governing Council, Mr. Abdurahman Barry were directly or indirectly involved with the incident.
The university further says that it condemns and categorically denounces all forms of violence regardless of who is involved and whom it affects.
Furthermore, the AME University has joined other Liberians and relevant non-state actors in calling on the Government to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice and also lauded the mandate issued by the President of the Republic of Liberia for an immediate, speedy and thorough investigation.
Meanwhile, the University has relieved Mr. Abdurahman Barry of his position as President of the 22nd Graduating class and the Students Governing Council and placed him and all students involved with the incident on Disciplinary Probation.
’Our prayers are with all individuals that were injured during the incident; especially Christopher Sivili, a student of the University of Liberia who is said to be hospitalized,’ the university authority intoned.
The Administration has therefore cautioned all students of the AME University to cultivate its core values of integrity, diversity and liberty, etc. as they exercise their rights guaranteed under the law.
