AMEU, LNP Collaborate For Safer Streets In Liberia

The African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU) made a significant contribution to public safety in Liberia by donating an additional 50 traffic cones to the Liberia National Police (LNP).
On Friday, October 11, 2024, this generous gesture was orchestrated by the President of AMEU, Alvin E. Attah, during a ceremony held at the LNP headquarters.
As Attah presented the cones, he emphasized the importance of road safety and the role that a clear traffic management plays in maintaining order on the streets.
“These cones are not just tools; they symbolize our commitment to a safer Liberia,” he stated.
The AMEU President, passionate about community engagement, mentioned future projects, including workshops on road safety and traffic management for local students.
“We aim to educate the next generation about responsible driving and the importance of following traffic regulations,” he added.
Receiving the cones, Commissioner Ebreem Deline, representing the LNP, expressed heartfelt gratitude.
“We are deeply appreciative of AMEU’s continuous support. This donation comes at a crucial time as we strive to enhance road safety measures throughout the country,” he remarked.
This was not the first time AMEU had extended a helping hand. Earlier, on June 26, 2024, the university donated a number of traffic cones to the LNP’s Zone One Detachment on Bushrod Island, showcasing a proactive approach to community safety.
The traffic cones donated in June had already proven invaluable, helping to direct traffic during busy hours and ensuring the safety of both motorists and pedestrians.
The LNP had reported a notable decrease in minor traffic incidents since implementing the cones, reinforcing the necessity of such tools in urban environments.
In a broader context, these donations are part of AMEU’s ongoing initiative to engage with local communities and contribute to national development.
The university has launched several programs aimed at fostering collaboration between educational institutions and law enforcement agencies.
The event concluded with a commitment from both AMEU and the LNP to work together in the future.
As the sun set over Monrovia, it was clear that the partnership between the university and the police force was poised to bring about positive changes in road safety, ultimately contributing to a more secured environment for all citizens.
As the community looked on, the hope was that this collaboration would inspire other institutions to take similar steps toward enhancing public safety and fostering civic responsibility across Liberia.
