The Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) was a center of attractive youth football display as the 2019 edition of the Alphonso Armah International Youth Tournament brought together Liberia’s best youth clubs to compete for a crown.
The tournament, which was organized by a Liberian Youth Coach based in Canada, Ansumana Keita, brought together 16 of the country’s top youth teams from across Liberia.
The Alphonso Armah International Youth Tournament, according to Keita, was named in honor of the fallen Secretary General of the Liberia Football Association, Alphonso Armah, who died in November 2015.
Keita, who serves as the technical director of Canadian youth team Federation Sportive de Salaberry Soccer, earlier mentioned that the tournament was organized to honor the former secretary general and to help in the direction of youth football development.
The tournament was an opportunity for talented kids under the age of 15 to kickstart their football career.
The 16 teams that participated in the tournament was be divided into four groups. Each group contained four teams.
Meanwhile, LEAD-Monrovia Football Academy male team has been crowned as Champions of the 2019 edition of the tournament. The MFA boys defeated defending champions, Cece United Football Academy 2-0 to walk away with the giant-size trophy. Massa Football Academy captured the bronze medals as the third winners.
