Agriculture Minister Lauds Jeety For Modern Rubber Factory

By Bill W. Cooper

Agriculture Minister, Jennie Cooper, has expressed her admiration and gratitude to Indian business tycoon, Upjit Singh Sachdeva, commonly known as Jeety, for his commendable efforts in constructing a state-of-the-art rubber factory in the country.Minister Cooper spoke Saturday, July 15, 2023, during her visit to the newly established facility, emphasizing its potential to revolutionize Liberia’s rubber industry, as well as serve as a significant boost to the country’s agricultural sector.

Jeety, known for his many investments and humanitarian work in Liberia, has made a remarkable stride by establishing the Jeety Rubber LLC that will construct, develop, and operate a national rubber processing and production plant for the production of tyres and other natural rubber products, including long and short rubber goods.

The factory, situated in Weala, Margibi County, is also expected to play a pivotal role in transforming Liberia into a significant rubber producer on the global stage, facilitating poverty alleviation among the citizenry through the provision of job opportunities.

It can be recalled that the Liberian Senate, in December of 2021, concurred with the House of Representatives to rectify the Jeety Rubber LLC Investment Incentive Agreement, following its submission by President George M. Weah that same year.

The company is owned by Dr. Sachdeva, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Jeety Trading Corporation-a premier importer and distributor in hardware and building materials- and scores of other businesses across the country.

During the minister’s tour of the facility, she was accompanied by a delegation of officials of the Agriculture Ministry, as she and her entourage were warmly received by the management of Jeety Rubber LLC, who provided detailed insight into the factory’s construction, technology, and overall operational framework.

Impressed by the scale and efficiency of the factory, Minister Cooper further praised Jeety for his commitment to Liberia’s economic development and expressed her gratitude for his investment in the agricultural sector of Liberia.

She also highlighted the significant impact the rubber factory would have on job creation, skill development, and the overall growth of the nation’s economy, as well as bring about competition in the sale of rubber products.

“The establishment of this rubber factory is a game-changer for Liberia. It demonstrates Jeety’s unwavering commitment to our country’s progress, and we are confident that this venture will not only create employment opportunities but also enhance the livelihoods of our citizens, particularly those in rural areas,” she maintained.

The minister also lauded the company’s adherence to international standards, in terms of environmental sustainability, proper waste management systems and worker welfare, among others.

She further stressed the importance of responsible and ethical practices in the rubber industry, emphasizing that the factory’s operations would prioritize the preservation of natural resources and the well-being of its workforce.

In his remark, the Jeety Rubber LLC CEO, Jeety, thanked Minister Cooper and team for the visit, and disclosed that the rubber factory is equipped with modern machinery and cutting-edge technology, intended to enable efficient rubber processing and production.

The facility, Jeety further revealed, also boasts advanced quality control mechanisms to ensure the production of high-grade rubber products that meet global standards, and added that the factory’s location of Margibi is strategically advantageous, as it will reduce transportation costs and enhance the overall efficiency of the supply chain.

He added that the proximity is also expected to boost the profitability of local rubber farmers and encourage increased cultivation.

Meanwhile, the minister concluded her visit by expressing her optimism about the future of Liberia’s rubber industry, and said, “All thanks to the establishment of the Jeety Rubber LLC factory.”

She then used the time to urge other investors to follow suit and seize the immense opportunities available in Liberia’s agricultural sector.

As Liberia continues to diversify its economy, the construction of the Jeety Rubber LLC factory marks a significant milestone in this endeavor, setting the stage for a brighter and more prosperous future for Liberia’s agricultural landscape.
