The edifice of the Christian International Denominational Assemblies (CHRIDA), situated in Zubah Town Community, was filled with tears and sorrow as thousands of family members, friends, and sympathizers, gathered to bid farewell to 24-year-old Margret F. Zolu, whom they described as ‘a visionary and dreamer.’
The funeral service over Faith, as she was affectionately called, held Saturday, March 23, 2024, brought together her parents, siblings, organizations, church members, classmates, community dwellers, and loved ones, who reflected her joyous and short life journey as they honored her memory.
Margret, a 2021 graduate of the University of Liberia (UL), left Liberia to further her education at the Nairobi University in Kenya, but regrettably met her untimely and painful death while pursuing her Master’s degree on February 14, 2024 and her body was received in Liberia on March 16, 2024 for interment.
During her brief earthly journey, Maggie had dreams of making a difference in the lives of wayward youths (Zogos) in Liberia and the world at large, and while determined to achieve her goals, her life was shortened when she unexpectedly passed away in a foreign land.
Maggie’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Zolu, spoke fondly of their daughter, describing her as a ‘Visionary and Dreamer’ who always strived for excellence while sharing stories of her childhood, her academic achievements, and her passion for helping others.
In tears and emotions, both Reverend and mother Zolu expressed their deep sadness and hurt at the untimely passing of their only biological child and at the same time thanked everyone for their support during this difficult time.
At the same time, several friends and classmates, including her churches of affiliation and CHRIDA members, all shared their memories of Margret, highlighting her intelligence, kindness, and determination while alive.
Meanwhile, despite the overwhelming grief, Margret’s life may was cut short, but her legacy as a visionary and dreamer will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, with some promising to keep and fulfill her dreams of helping others with their education through what was described at ‘Margret’s Foundation.’
Accordingly, Maggie’s determination to make a difference in Liberia and the world at large, her passion for learning, and her kindness towards others, will serve as a reminder of the impact one person can have on the world.
Meanwhile, she was laid to rest at the Emma Knuckles Cemetery in Careysburg, outside Monrovia.
