Sons and daughters of Lofa County across Monrovia and its environs launched their grand celebration into the county’s recent triumph in the 2024-2025 National County Sports Meet, having emerged victorious in both football and basketball, securing two out of three trophies. This remarkable achievement has ignited a series of celebrations, which began on April 4, 2025, to continue for several days.
The celebrations started with a parade across major streets and the communities aimed not only to honor Lofa’s sporting excellence but also to raise funds for the construction of a modern, multi-million-dollar stadium. The proposed stadium is expected to significantly enhance sports development in the county and provide state-of-the-art facilities for local athletes and the broader community.
During the opening of the celebrations in Monrovia, a prominent son of the county, Thomas P. Fallah, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, expressed his immense pride in the athletes, coaches, and supporters who contributed to Lofa County’s outstanding performance. “Today, we begin the celebrations as we prepare to return the County Meet trophy to Lofa County, its rightful home,” Fallah declared.
Fallah emphasized the unity and spirit of the Lofaian people, crediting their collective effort for the county’s sports success. “Our athletes have shown that Lofa leads in sports and spirit,” he stated, adding, “This victory is a testament to Lofa’s strength and unity.”
The Deputy Speaker also reiterated Lofa’s dominance in the nation’s sporting arena, saying, “Lofa remains the best in Liberian sports. And this is just the beginning.”
Fallah highlighted the significance of the ongoing celebrations, noting that the funds raised during the events will go toward the development of the new stadium, a project he described as a long-term investment in Lofa’s sporting future.
“Lofa County has always been a leader in sports, and this new stadium will ensure that we remain at the forefront of athletic excellence,” Fallah said. “We are not just celebrating past victories; we are laying the foundation for future triumphs.”
