The Cover Our People Foundation, a not-for-profit organization in Liberia and the U.S., has begun the collection and packaging of clothing to be redistributed to more than 400,000 vulnerable persons who are in dire need in Monrovia and across the country.
According to Stephen A. Tolbert, his organization has targeted abandoned and vulnerable persons, orphans, persons with disabilities as well as students as the key beneficiaries of the distribution exercise.
He added that Liberians at home and in the diaspora, have expressed their support and desire to donate various kinds of clothing for the project.
“Our foundation is a humanitarian organization which brings global and resident Liberians together to make strategic interventions at the most basic levels of health, education, technology and the environment. But we are beginning with the redistribution clothing items to our people in need as a way of reaching out to them,” noting that his organization is not political; it is purely humanitarian,” he said.
“In addition to launching the clothing drive, the foundation will develop and implement its four pillars in the areas of health, education, technology and the environment,” he said.
“The foundation’s overarching self-reliance strategy consists in combining and channeling the expertise, experience and resources of diaspora and resident Liberians,” he added, noting that Cover Our People Foundation is a new way to personal success and national prosperity with a citizens’ led strategy.
“We’re building a new and stronger house despite every imaginable development challenge. So, we’ve narrowed our focus on the greatest needs where we can make the most impact. “By expanding knowledge, resources and capacity in these areas we’ll give Liberians the tools and skills to transform their own lives and their country!” We will create opportunities by building the Partnerships, platforms and Programs between home-based and Diaspora Liberians to bridge the yawning gaps between Liberia’s most desperate challenges,” the group stated.
Every Liberian has a birthright to be the most successful stakeholders in their own country.
“My brother, Liberia lags way behind by every important measure of modern societies and Liberians must know and understand that they’re the only ones who have the power and ability to change that,” he said passionately.
However, the launching ceremony of the Cover Our People Foundation, a not-for-profit organization in Liberia and the U.S. will take place on Friday, April 11, 2025 at the City Hall of Monrovia.
At the ceremony, Liberia’s First National Clothing Drive called “Operation Cover Our People” will be launched to generate donations of clothing from the public.
At the Launch ceremony Stephen A. Tolbert, II will reveal more details as he introduces his plans and makes appeals to the Liberians.
