Nuristo Miller, Founder and CEO of U.S.-based humanitarian organization Peer Driven Change (PDC), concluded a successful day-long engagement with beneficiaries in Buchanan, reinforcing his organization’s commitment to empowering women and alleviating poverty.
The event, held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Buchanan City Hall, brought together local market women, international guests, and PDC’s Country Director, Christopher Yarwoe. It provided a platform for discussions on financial empowerment and sustainable business opportunities for women in marginalized communities.
Founded in 2019, Peer Driven Change seeks to break the cycle of poverty through financial assistance, enabling women to launch and sustain businesses. Country Director Yarwoe highlighted PDC’s expansion into Liberia following Miller’s visit in 2017, an experience that inspired him to invest in local communities. Since then, PDC has transformed the lives of hundreds of women and families in Buchanan and Paynesville.
Speaking at the gathering, Miller expressed gratitude for the warm reception and shared his personal motivation for launching PDC.
Having experienced poverty firsthand, he emphasized that his work is a tribute to his mothers and driven by a deep-seated commitment to helping women achieve financial independence.
“Hearing directly from our beneficiaries helps us refine our programs and make a more significant impact,” Miller noted.
The event was filled with emotional moments as women shared stories of resilience and empowerment, detailing how Peer Driven Change has positively impacted their lives. In recognition of Miller’s dedication, the women honored him with a special ceremony, celebrating his role as a champion of change in their community.
With a growing footprint in Liberia, PDC has assured the women of Buchanan that they remain committed to supporting women in their entrepreneurial journeys, fostering self-sufficiency, and creating lasting, community-driven change.
